July 2024 Executive Director's Report
The countdown is officially on as we are just 10 days away from ACT’s 38th Annual International Conference in Denver and I can’t wait to welcome you there! More than 600 of you, your colleagues, and friends will be joining us for what promises to be an outstanding event. If you haven’t registered yet, no worries, there is still time to join us but do so soon. Here is a link to make it even easier. There is so much to look forward to at this year’s event but for me what I am most excited about is the presentation of our 2024 TDM Hall of Fame Awards.
As ACT starts to approach its 40th anniversary, it is so wonderful that the organization is now taking the time to recognize individuals that dedicated significant years of their professional careers to the advancement of TDM and the growth of ACT. I highly encourage all attendees to stay for this year’s Awards Ceremony to celebrate this year’s inductees.
Speaking of awards, next week ACT will be opening nominations for the TDM Excellence Awards, to honor outstanding performance and leadership in TDM by organizations. Award categories represent a range of sectors, including employers, hospitals, higher education, and municipalities, MPOs, transportation providers, and technology companies.
The Excellence Awards shine a spotlight on the most exceptional examples of TDM leadership and implementation and recognize the commitment of the organization to use TDM as an important strategy to improve the lives of commuters, enhance the livability of communities, and strengthen the economic competitiveness of businesses. Stay tuned for an announcement on how to nominate a deserving organization.
If this year’s International Conference just isn’t possible for you to attend, have no worries, as we will soon be opening registration for our TDM Forum, November 12-13 in Charlotte, NC. This year’s Forum will feature a revamped program that will provide participants with the opportunity to dive deep into four themed tracks that will lead participants through a more holistic understanding of issues related to creating the TDM city, the great micromobility experiment, filling the gaps in our transit systems, and ensuring TDM for everyone.
Lastly, in mid-August we will be opening elections for ACT’s Board of Directors. We have a tremendous group of 18 candidates for 6 At-Large Director seats and 4 officer roles. I highly encourage you to learn more about the candidates when we announce them and to vote for the next leaders of your association.
I wish you all a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing so many of you in Denver.
