ACT strives to create an efficient multimodal transportation system by empowering the people, places, and organizations working to advance TDM in order to improve the quality of life of commuters, enhance the livability of communities, and stimulate economic activity.

Land Acknowledgement - ACT Office

ACT acknowledges that its headquarters in Sharon, MA is on the traditional land of the Massachusett nation, whose ancestors have resided here since time immemorial. The area is historically known as Massapoag and the Ponkapoag band of the Massachusett Tribe has existed in Ponkapoag since 1657. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts took its name from the Massachusett nation.

The Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag is governed by two branches of tribal government: tribal affairs and business/financial affairs. Traditions of ritual dance, drum, rattle, song, rites of passage, storytelling, and medicine are alive in this community and can trace back thousands of years.

Many Indigenous peoples thrive in this place — alive, strong, and continuing many traditions. We honor and respect the enduring relationship that exists between these peoples and nations and this land. We thank them for their resilience in protecting this land and aspire to uphold our responsibilities by following their example.

As an international organization, ACT recognizes and acknowledges that members, events, and impacts occur on the lands of many native lands where Indigenous peoples live today. ACT encourages its members and local chapters to learn more about and partner with these peoples to better understand relevant local issues, help raise awareness, and cooperate together for meaningful solutions.
