What brought you to TDM and how did you get involved in the field?

My passion for Transportation Demand Management stems from a desire to drive meaningful change, leverage data-driven strategies, and learn from inspiring mentors. Through my work, I’ve developed campaigns that promote sustainable commuting and build strong community partnerships. I believe lasting change is powered by collaboration and actionable insights. This belief has fueled my journey, from supporting government agencies and the private sector to embracing technology as a catalyst for innovation and progress in TDM.

Why did you get involved in ACT?

I got involved with ACT because I believe that action and involvement are essential to driving meaningful change. My passion for Transportation Demand Management is rooted in a desire to create impactful solutions, leverage data-driven strategies, and learn from inspiring mentors. ACT provides a platform for collaboration, where professionals come together to share insights and advance sustainable commuting initiatives. By engaging with ACT, I’ve been able to connect with like-minded individuals, promote innovative approaches, and champion progress in TDM. Change doesn’t happen in isolation—it requires collective effort and a commitment to making a difference.

What has been the most memorable moment of your experience in ACT?

My most memorable experience with the ACT has been my journey through chapter leadership, from serving as Membership Chair to becoming Chapter President. This progression not only deepened my knowledge of transportation demand management but also significantly expanded my professional network. As Membership Chair, I learned the value of building strong connections and fostering engagement, which became the foundation for my leadership approach.

Stepping into the role of President allowed me to collaborate with diverse professionals, lead impactful initiatives, and drive meaningful change within the TDM community. This experience has reinforced my belief that leadership and active involvement are essential to advancing sustainable transportation solutions and creating a lasting impact.

What would you tell someone thinking about becoming a member of ACT?
If you’re considering becoming a member of  ACT, do it. If you're teetering, talk to me. My involvement with ACT has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It has deepened my knowledge of transportation demand management and significantly expanded my professional network. Through ACT, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with diverse professionals, contribute to impactful initiatives, and create lasting improvements in sustainable transportation. ACT provides a platform to connect, grow, and actively participate in advancing meaningful solutions that truly make a difference in the TDM community.
What do you see as future opportunities and/or challenges for TDM?

Challenges in Transportation Demand Management often present opportunities for innovation and growth. For example, the complexities of promoting sustainable commuting can be addressed through leveraging the IRS Section 132 code, which allows for commuter tax benefits. These incentives, including pre-tax deductions for transit passes, parking, and vanpooling, encourage employers and employees to adopt alternative transportation modes. By turning challenges like limited awareness into opportunities for education and engagement, TDM professionals can foster mode shifts, reduce congestion, and improve air quality. Embracing these opportunities is key to driving progress in sustainable transportation solutions.
