Executive Director's Report June 2024
When it comes to must-attend events, ACT’s International Conference is the one not to miss for TDM professionals and all of us working to advance sustainable transportation options within our communities. I encourage you to check out the program, which features many timely topics. Most importantly though, the conference brings together over 600 people from across North America, providing you access to some of the brightest minds in the field. With many networking opportunities, chapter and council meetings, and social events, there is also no better place to meet new colleagues, share knowledge, and get nerdy with TDM. Our next price break is Friday, so check out the event and register to join ACT in Denver.
This month, ACT opened nominations for our Board of Directors. ACT’s Board is made up of dedicated individuals committed to leading the organization forward to achieve our strategic goals and ensure the delivery of programs, advocacy, and services to our membership. We are seeking nominations for six At-Large Director positions, as well as all Officer roles. You can learn more about the opportunity and submit your nomination online.
In response to our recent legislative victory, with language calling for a report on the use of TDM strategies at airports, ACT has launched a working group of member airports and airport stakeholders to help us influence the scope and direction of the report to be conducted by the Government Accountability Office. This group may also develop additional programming to bring forward unique TDM challenges facing airport facilities and their millions of commuters and travelers. If interested in participating, contact Zachary Calderón.
It has been wonderful to see TDM Week continue to grow into an important opportunity for all of us involved in TDM to create greater awareness among decision-makers and stakeholders about the importance of supporting and implementing TDM within their communities. This year’s TDM Week features a new opportunity for all people and organizations to get engaged by pledging to spread awareness of TDM, hosting events, introducing a new TDM strategy, or countless other initiatives. Truly anything (TDM related) qualifies, so take a moment now to pledge your involvement!
Lastly, I am excited to share that applications are now open for ImpACT! Leadership 2025. This program is a tremendous opportunity for individuals looking to take their career to the next level. Over 10 months, selected participants go through a rewarding professional development journey, kicking off with a three-day leadership seminar that transitions to monthly virtual roundtables with industry leaders, and featuring an engaging group project that empowers you to take on an issue of importance for ACT and the field of TDM.
I wish you all a joyous and restful summer and look forward to hopefully seeing you in Denver!
Best regards,
David
