Executive Director's Report April 2025

General News,

As we wrap up another busy month at ACT, I’m filled with pride and gratitude for the strides our community continues to make in advancing TDM.  Last month I reported from London on the opening days of ACT’s UK Delegation trip — an eye-opening and inspiring exchange of ideas on how venues and local governments can best influence travel behavior and achieve significant increases in non-vehicular trips for major events and venues. Our delegation members are currently pulling together their thoughts on best practices and opportunities for communities across North America, which will be shared in an upcoming publication available to all members.

Back here in the U.S., our Spring into TDM series of chapter events has exceeded every expectation. More than 350 people will participate in these events featuring unique regional topics and tours.  My appreciation and thanks go out to the many members that have stepped up to volunteer their time in planning these events.  These events not only deepen our collective expertise but also strengthen the bonds that make ACT such a vibrant professional community.

I want to remind you that nominations are open for the 2025 TDM Hall of Fame. If you know of a colleague whose long‐term achievements warrant recognition, I encourage you to submit their nomination by May 9. Let’s celebrate those whose dedication has advanced the field of TDM.

In February, we recognized our first group of Accredited TDM Organizations, wrapping up a year-long pilot of this first ever accreditation for organizations delivering TDM programs.  Now we are ready to launch the program for all!  I invite you to participate in one of our upcoming informational sessions on May 6 or May 7. Whether you’re a seasoned TDM provider or just embarking on your accreditation journey, these sessions will guide you through the standards and requirements for accreditation and answer any questions you may have.

I hope that you have been able to participate in a recent ACT event or meeting. I look forward to seeing you at our International Conference this summer or online at one of our many chapter or council meetings.
