Come along on the Cascade Chapter's Microsoft Campus Expansion Tour

General News,
Highlights from Thursday, June 6

Cascade Chapter members and friends visited Microsoft’s new Redmond campus and learned about its transportation and sustainability features. Highlights of the tour included:

  • The underground garage with 6,500 stalls and an automated parking guidance system.
  • The Thermal Energy Center, which uses energy from 900 geothermal wells under the campus to heat and cool buildings.
  • A bike parking facility with different bike rack types, e-bike charging outlets, air pumps and tool stands, clothes drying room, and locker rooms.
  • The bike and pedestrian bridge that crosses the freeway that bisects Microsoft’s Redmond Campus and connects to the nearby Redmond Technology Station, where employees can access several transit options.

The tour ended with a happy hour at Craft 75, a gastropub on the new campus. All told, the tour showed how Microsoft’s new campus is walkable, community-oriented, and aligned with Microsoft’s sustainability mission.
