Policy Alert: Take Action to Protect Commuter Tax Benefits

Public Policy,

Dear ACT members,

In January, Republicans detailed a comprehensive list of the potential programs that may be targeted for cuts or elimination within the upcoming reconciliation process; among them is the Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefit (more commonly known as commuter tax benefits). As the budget reconciliation process begins in Congress, ACT has released a variety of resources to assist you and your organization in advocacy efforts. At ACT, we believe that our members’ outreach to their elected officials is impactful, and through these efforts, we can save the benefit.

In this email, and on this page, you will find an email/letter template and call script which you can use to contact your members of Congress. Use this link to find your representative if you are unsure. You may contact the Congresspeople who represent your work site, service area, and/or your residential address if they are different. Please keep Emma Wasserman, ACT’s Government Affairs and Policy Manager (ewasserman@actweb.org) apprised of all outreach efforts so that ACT can better strategize on our collective efforts (cc on emails, let her know about calls, etc.).

While all outreach efforts are appreciated, there are a select few Congresspeople who will be critical to have voice support. Given the razor-thin margins in Congress, we only need to get a small number of Republicans to defend the benefit. If you are a constituent of the following members, your advocacy efforts are truly needed:
