Executive Director's Report September 2024

General News,

Welcome to Fall! It’s my favorite time of year, especially here in New England, where the crisp air and changing leaves set the perfect backdrop for reflection and forward thinking. As we take stock of the accomplishments of this year, it’s also an ideal moment to start envisioning what the next year holds. With that in mind, I’m excited to share some important updates and opportunities, including new resources that can help shape your professional journey as we look ahead together.

I want to extend my congratulations to the individuals that were recently elected to serve as member of the Board of Directors for the 2025-26 term.  This includes our officers: Roz Tucker (President), Courtney Reynolds (Vice President), Jessica Alba (Secretary), and Aaron Fodge (Treasurer).  Joining them as newly elected Directors are: Thom Cerny, Brendon Harrington, Veronica Jarvis, Russell McDermott, Matt Meservy, and Allie Velleca.  I am looking forward to working with this group and existing members of the board as we continue to advance the association.  Many thanks also goes out to the individuals that stepped up to run and were willing to dedicate their time and energy to ACT and the field of TDM.

The Certification Board of Trustees is excited to announce the release of eight brand-new study materials for the TDM-CP exam! With over 100 pages of fresh content developed by seasoned TDM-CPs, these resources provide a wealth of knowledge for anyone pursuing the credential. With this trove of new information at your fingertips, there’s never been a better time to pursue the TDM-CP and distinguish yourself as an expert in the field. I encourage all professionals in the industry to take advantage of this valuable information and consider taking the exam in the coming year —it's your opportunity to elevate your career and become a distinguished member of the field.

Next week, ACT will open up our call for Statement of Interest to serve on one of the many National Board Committees provide a unique opportunity for members to dive deep into a specific issue or topic area that is key to the success of the organization like finance, governance, membership, DEI, professional development and other topics.  Watch your inbox for how you can submit your statement of interest.

Don’t forget, ACT’s TDM Forum is November 12-13 in Charlotte, NC.  This event has been completely transformed to offer track-based learning on transportation policies, equity, new mobility options, and key planning issues facing our communities. Each day, you’ll choose between two immersive tracks, each offering a variety of session formats designed to dive deep into crucial topics. Track options include:

David
