Executive Director's Report August 2024

General News,

Greetings!

It has been two weeks since many of you returned home from our 38th Annual International Conference in Denver. Based on the nearly 200 surveys we received it looks like we achieved our goal of delivering an event filled with great learning and networking opportunities, mixed in with some fun as well!  It has been wonderful to see so many great pictures from the event being shared on LinkedIn and other social media.  For me the event goes by so quickly and it can be a challenge to focus deeply in the moment, so being able to see the moments that meant so much to you, means everything to me.   If you had a blast and would love to help make next year’s event even great, just let us know, planning has already started for next year’s conference in New Orleans.  Be sure to add the event to your budget and join us in the Big Easy!

As a professional trade association, ACT relies heavily on volunteers to lead and serve in a variety of capacities, from chapters to councils to committees.  And we are very lucky to have so many individuals committed to helping us and so it was exciting to see that this year we received 18 nominations for the Board of Directors and Officers.  Elections are now open and I want to ask you to take 15 minutes to learn more about your peers and colleagues that would like to lend their skills and time to lead ACT.  And most importantly, I want to ask you to vote.

Our current board gathered in Denver for a full day of strategic planning and an in-person meeting, which featured the approval of our new Micromobility Council (if interested in participating be sure to update your membership profile online).  Charters were approved for the TMA/TMO Council, Tech & Innovation Council and the ACT PAC.  As well, time was devoted to discussing proposed new policies and procedures aimed at providing clearer guidance for the successful formation and operation of chapters across the association and greater consistency for the member experience.

We have a few important deadlines coming up that I want to remind you about. First, TDM Week is just a month away and we are looking to gather over 200 pledges from members to host events, conduct outreach, or even introduce new policies.  Will you make your pledge today?

Lastly, I want to encourage you to submit an organization (perhaps yours) for a TDM Excellence Award.  These awards honor outstanding performance and leadership in TDM by organizations.  Award categories represent a range of sectors, including employers, higher education, municipalities, MPOs, transportation providers, and technology companies.  Learn more and nominate before August 30

As always, please reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, ideas, or concerns.

Best regards,
David
