Nominations for the 2017 ACT 40 Under 40 Awards have now closed, and we are excitedly looking forward to recognizing strong, creative TDM leaders at the TDM Forum, October 17-18. This prestigious award recognizes younger professionals who are developing and managing TDM programs that are shifting behavior and creating long-lasting change within their communities and organizations.
Last year’s group of nominees have now had a year to reflect on the experience of being recognized, so we reached out to a few of them to hear their thoughts.
Kevin Chau, Rideshare Manager at Enterprise Rideshare said, “I was very honored to be recognized as a 40 Under 40 Award recipient by ACT. Working to positively impact the lives of commuters is personally rewarding and ACT’s recognition helps keep me motivated.”
For Erin Burke, Associate Manager at Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, the award made a real difference in her feeling about TDM: “Receiving ACT’s 40 under 40 award, filled me with an increased sense of pride for my work.”
Cathy Cibor, Programs/TDM Associate at Alta Planning + Design sang the praises of ACT membership in general as well as commenting on her feelings at receiving the award. She said, “After nearly a decade in the TDM industry, it’s been a pivotal experience for me to become a member of the ACT community over the last several years. At ACT, people speak my language and the professional development opportunities are top-notch. The cherry on top was being recognized as a 40 under 40 award recipient in 2016, alongside such stellar TDM professionals. I loved meeting the diverse group, learning from them, and celebrating our accomplishments together.”
Clearly, for these three TDM professionals, the 40 Under 40 Awards were a very positive experience. We hope and expect that this year’s recipients will feel a similar boost for their accomplishments and their profession. We encourage you to keep in mind young professionals from your organization for future recognition. The awards ceremony will take place October 18 during ACT’s 2017 TDM Forum in Las Vegas.
